Bobcats of Bosque del Apache
We were slowly cruising one of the roads near the main pond when my good friend called out from the back seat that there was something large up in a tree we had just passed. So I backed up slowly for fifty feet or so and there we found two bobcats in a face-off, high up in this nearby tree. The upper cat appeared to be the younger of the two and was being harshly reprimanded by the lower bobcat in a display of dominance and subservience.
The lower cat slowly backed down the tree leaving this poor fellow to consider his unfortunate situation for a good while.
Looking a bit perplexed while in this splayed stance, waiting for the domination to end and never taking his eyes off of his tormentor…
…and waiting…
And finally regaling us with a woeful look, some days are just tougher than others.
These shots were taken under really tough backlighting and it was a pleasant surprise when I was able to get them looking at least presentable in the lightroom.
